David Glivens

David Glivens, Sr., a beloved resident of Cameron, South Carolina, heard God’s call on November 16, 2024 at the age of 79, trading a life of Earthly Service for Eternal Rest in Heaven. Born on April 24, 1945 in Cameron, SC and received his formative education in the Public School System of Calhoun County. Upon graduation from high school, he relocated to Philadelphia, PA where he dedicated much of his life to Public Service on the board of Directors at Presbyterian home in Philadelphia. After completion of his tenure in Pennsylvania, he relocated to Orangeburg, continuing his public service work as a Deputy Sheriff in Orangeburg, SC for the remainder of his career. David began his Christian Life of Service by joining St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cameron, SC. He later joined Resurrection Baptist Church during his tenure in Philadelphia, PA. Upon returning to South Carolina, he became a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Ft. Motte, SC, then reuniting his membership at his home church of St. Peter AME Church in Cameron, SC. David was known for his quick wit and intelligence that endeared him to family, friends and Colleagues alike. He cherished spending his days off working in his yard and spending time with his family, cooking and taking impromptu family road trips. David was preceded in death by his Wife, Florence Glivens; Mother, Janie Stroman; Father, George Glivens; Son, Caulwin Bovian; Sisters Patricia Williams and Shirley Gissentaner, and Step-Mother Anna Glivens. David leaves cherished memories and a legacy of family love to beloved Children; Nicole Harris of Naples, Florida, David Glivens Jr. of Brandon, Florida and Ashley Glivens of Atlanta Georgia; son-in-law, Matthew Baker; Grandchildren, Katelyn Harris and Kaden Harris of Naples, Florida; Brothers, Wilbur Stroman, Daniel Stroman, Jr., Ronald Stroman, Sr.; Sisters Dorothy Kennedy, Maggie Frazier, Vernessa Hawkins; Evon Stroman and Marie Mickens; and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and cousins who all brought him immense joy. David’s Legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends as he is remembered for his Humor, Kindness and Unwavering Dedication to those he loved. At the request of the family, there will be no formal Celebration of Life Service. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers during this difficult time.
