David L. Jenkins

Mr. David Lee Jenkins, affectionally known as “Boot” was the seventh child born to the late Johnny Jenkins, Sr. and Annie Elizabeth Kennerly Jenkins on August 9, 1950 in Orangeburg, SC. David entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2023 at Calhoun Convalescent Center, St. Matthews, SC. David received his formative education in the Public School System of Calhoun County at St. John High School in Cameron, SC. He relocated to New York City and worked Industrial Accoustic Company in the Bronx, New York. Several years later, David returned to South Carolina and began working as a landscaper. His passion was working on cars. He was an assistant mechanic. In his spare time, due to his love of music, he was a DJ known to his fans as “Master D”. David was not a stranger to anyone that he met. He always greeted you with a hug and a kiss. He will truly be missed by family and friends. David was preceded in death by three brothers; Johnny Jenkins, O’Neil Jenkins and Edward Jenkins, three sisters; Viola Backmon, Anna Lois Johnson and Linda G. Jenkins. David leaves to cherish his precious memories; sons, Nicholas and Jermaine Holman; brothers, George “Sonny” (Eartha) Jenkins, Furman “Man” (Mary) Jenkins, Larry (Isabelle)Jenkins, James Collier and Robert (Mattie) Johnson; sister, Patricia (Alphonzo) Fludd; aunt, Doris Benefield of New Jersey; brothers-in-law, Paul Johnson, Rev. Charles W. (Janie) Holman, Henry S. Holman and George E. Holman; sisters-in- law, Mae Agnes Hamilton, Emelina Jenkins and Barbara Jean Elmore; devoted first cousins, Adam Benjamin, Charles Benjamin, Minnie Benjamin and Willie Mae Benjamin; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; devoted nephews, David Lee Simpson, Sr., Anthony Jenkins and Darius McClinton; devoted niece, Darlene Jenkins; nieces and nephews reared in the home, Shantel F. McClinton, Tamethia J. Perkins, Payton D. Johnson, Veronica Johnson, Dianna Jenkins and Larry Jenkins, II. A devoted friend like a brother, Joe (Dot) Boneparte and the Boneparte family. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends. The family will be receiving visitors daily at their residence, 105 Rainbow Lane, St. Matthews, SC 29135 from 3PM to 8PM.
