Mae F Jenkins

Mae Frances was born in Perry, South Carolina and attended North, South Carolina Public School. She graduated from Wilkerson High School, in Orangeburg, South Carolina and later attended South Carolina State College. During her senior year in high school she met Johnnie Boy Jenkins Who was enlisted in the United States Army when he met Mae Frances. Johnnie had orders to report and had to leave but, there was no doubt that there was a mutual attraction. During this period, she attended South Carolina State University to pursue a degree in nursing. She later left the university after one year to move to New York City to work and save money to complete her education. Mae soon returned to Orangeburg, SC where she married the love of her life Johnnie Boy Jenkins. She spent most of her time being a house wife and caring for her young family. Soon after marriage, she joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized and accepted Jesus into life and her heart. Her life soon changed and she became a vessel for God. She served on the usher board but later found that her true love of singing and soon joined the choir where her voice could be heard. Because of her love for singing she later became an active member of the Orangeburg Gospel Choral Union founded by Rev. Dr. Rosemary Griffin. Mae was a true prayer warrior and loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. Her journey in life took her to many church homes, but she finally returned to her first love St. Paul where she was an intercessor and served on the in spiritional prayer line alongside her best friend Rev. Margaret Dykes who remained that until her death. Mae Frances was employed with Orangeburg Public Schools and later transitioned to South Carolina State University’s Miller F. Whittaker Library where she retired in 1994 after 27 years of service. During her time at SCSU Mae Frances enjoyed making sure students that came her way had a good meal by taking them home or bringing them a home cooked meal. It wasn’t usual for us to have another month at the table for dinner. Mae wanted to make sure each student she feed left her house with their bellies full. Some of Mae’s accomplishments were Mary Kay Top Sales Awarded. She was also awarded a Certificate from Oral Roberts University, Healing Prayer Committee. Mom poured her love and Christian values into a group of your people that she has considered her other children The C.R.E.W and Kimberly Cannady considered her other daughter. She continued her love of singing by joining the Orangeburg Gospel Choral Union. She also started her own business for a short period of time. Mae Frances suffered a stroke on December 24, 2010 at the age of 77. She loved her God, her Family and her Church. She passed this life on May 31, 2025 Mae was preceded in death by her husband, her mother Annie Mae Foster Inabinet, Elijah Inabinet Sr, sister Betty Inabinet and brother Elijah Inabinet, Jr. Loving memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of her daughter, Connie Jenkins Piper, Columbia, SC; son Johnnie R. Jenkins (Elizabeth), Wilson, NC, and daughter Tammie L. Carmichael (Willie), Fort Mills, SC. Four grandsons, Walter W. Piper III (Chawna), Cincinnati, Oh; Jon Wesley Jenkins (Elizabeth) Raleigh, NC; Joshua Carmichael and Caleb Carmichael, both of Fort Mills, SC. Two Great-Grandsons, Walter Piper IV and Christian Piper, Cincinnati, OH. Two sisters, Dean Austin (Henry-late) Mable Prioleau (Kenneth); two brothers, Steven Inabinet (Regina), and Kenneth Inabinet (Christine), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
