Ronald Green

A Reflection of Life For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:6-7 Ronald Earl (Ron) Green was born on May 12, 1958 to the late Roy, Sr. and Oneita Watson Green in Manning, South Carolina. He entered eternal peace on October 26, 2023 at his residence in Cameron, South Carolina. Having grown up in Orangeburg, SC, Ronald graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in 1976, where he played football and basketball. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johnson C. Smith University (Charlotte, NC) in Health and Physical Education in 1980, while on a football scholarship. During his collegiate tenure, he was a 2x recipient of the NAIA District 26 Player of the Week award, 3x recipient of the CIAA Lineman of the Week award, and the JCSU Unsung Hero Award. Ronald enjoyed his professional career in counseling. He began his career as a Unit Counselor at Open House Inpatient Center and an Operations Manager at the Carolina Group Home in Charlotte, NC. After returning home to Orangeburg, he channeled his love for cars by working for various car dealerships as an auto salesman. He even owned and operated his own sales lot, Ron’s Auto Sales, for a few years. While he enjoyed his work in auto and mobile home sales, his passion for counseling lead him to return to the field. He began employment at the Tri-County Commission on Alcohol & Drug Abuse (the Dawn Center) in Orangeburg, SC as the Peoples Assault on Drugs Coalition (PAOD) Director and later at Bamberg Job Corps in Bamberg, SC as a (TEAP) Specialist. In these positions he provided alcohol, drug, group, family, and marriage counseling. After an automobile accident limited his ability to work in his field, he worked for the Orangeburg Consolidated School District 5 as a teacher’s assistant and substitute teacher until he was no longer able to work. Ronald attended Andrew Chapel Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC where he served faithfully on the Usher Board. He was a member of the Epsilon Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated and The 100 Club of Johnson C. Smith University. Ronald was known for his remarkable character, love for family/friends, and matchless service to mankind. He earned his affectionate title, “Uncle Ronald” by volunteering to serve youth boys, high school and college students, and the community-at-large. He had a passion for mentoring students and set a genuine ‘pay it forward’ example for others to follow. Uncle Ronald touched the hearts of those that met him and leaves a legacy of love in the hearts of his family and friends. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cynthia Ann Richburg Green; and brother, Edward Leroy Frazier. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Brenda Jenkins Green; three children, Alan (Tiffany) Green of Augusta, GA; Ronneshia Green and Breneshia Green, both of Orangeburg, SC; one brother, Roy Greene, Jr. of Orangeburg, SC; father-in-law, Jerome Jenkins of Santee, SC; one brother-in-law, Kenneth (Rosa) Jenkins of Santee, SC; eight grandchildren, Javian, Tayla, Trevan, Kyran, Camdan, Ashtan, and Haydan Green, all of Augusta, GA and Jynai Turkvant of Orangeburg, SC; two nephews, Shawn (January) Richburg of Tampa, FL and Kayden Jenkins of the home; one niece, Angel Jenkins of Lithonia, GA; two godchildren, Dorian Robinson of Orangeburg, SC and Londyn Peeples of Orangeburg, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ronald Earl “Ron” Green, 65, of 1136 Shulmer Road; Cameron, SC, transitioned from Earth to Eternity on Thursday October 26, 2023 at his residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Andrew Chapel Baptist 3670 Five Chop Rd. Orangeburg, SC. Pastor Dr. Donald E. Greene, Jr. will deliver Words of Comfort. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Green will lie in repose one hour prior to service at the church. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Al Jenkins Funeral Home of Orangeburg. The Omega Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM by the Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. The family will be receiving friends at the residence from 3:00 to 7:00 PM daily. Friends may also call the funeral home. The service will be livestreamed. We ask that everyone please wear face masks during the visitation and service.
